Six Dead, Two Injured in Kabba–Odo-Ape Road Crash

Six persons have died while two others sustained injuries in a road accident involving a truck and a commercial vehicle on the Kabba–Odo-Ape Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The crash occurred on Saturday, with residents of Odo-Ape reportedly joining rescue efforts to assist victims trapped in the vehicles.

The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lawal Fagge, confirmed the accident in a telephone conversation.

According to him, preliminary findings indicated that excessive speed was a major factor in the crash.

Fagge said six victims died in the accident, while two others were injured and taken for medical attention.

He urged motorists using the road to exercise caution, particularly by avoiding speeding, dangerous overtaking and driving when fatigued.

“It is unfortunate that six persons lost their lives in the crash involving a truck and another vehicle along the Kabba–Odo-Ape Road,” he said.

The sector commander stressed the need for motorists to prioritise road safety and avoid behaviours capable of endangering other road users.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have reportedly been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Kabba.
