2027: Renewed Hope Ambassadors Mobilise Christian Leaders For Tinubu, Hamzat

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Lagos State of Lagos State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors has intensified its grassroots mobilisation with a prayer session and sensitisation programme for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.

The event featured the inauguration of grassroots coordinators across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state as part of efforts to deepen community engagement and widen the group’s reach among Christian groups.

Speaking at the event, the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate in Lagos State, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, urged Christian leaders to remain actively involved in the political process, stressing that governance directly affects citizens’ welfare.

Quoting biblical principles, Sonayon-James noted that the public rejoices when righteous leaders hold office. She described Hamzat as a leader driven by integrity and community service, promising that an APC-led administration would fulfill its commitments to the people.

She also tasked parents to encourage youth participation in governance, highlighting that the Federal Government under President Tinubu has already made key interventions addressing youth-centered concerns.

“Politics should be of interest to everyone because leadership is ultimately about improving the welfare of the people,” Sonayon-James stated, urging residents to stay steadfast in supporting the incoming administration.

Also speaking, the Lagos State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Hon. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, commended the grassroots executives for their commitment. He noted that leadership remains fundamentally about service and urged coordinators to take the Renewed
Hope vision directly to churches and local communities while bridging local divisions.

In his address, the Director of Christian Affairs for the organisation, Rev. Dr. Sam Ogedengbe, commended President Tinubu and APC leadership for supporting previous prayer walks, outreaches and church-sensitisation programmes across the state.

Ogedengbe explained that the directorate supports President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and Hamzat’s governorship ambition due to key policy strides, including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms, student loans, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiatives, local government autonomy and infrastructure development.

To enhance operational logistics across the state, Ogedengbe appealed for campaign vehicles for the coordinators, suggesting that at least three vehicles be allocated per senatorial district if every local government cannot be immediately covered.
