A 27-year-old man in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, has allegedly attacked his mother with a baseball bat following an argument over food.
According to court documents obtained by Law&Crime, Deangelo Billingsley was at home with his mother on September 5, 2026, when an argument reportedly broke out over her not preparing food for him.
The argument allegedly escalated, with Billingsley accused of physically assaulting his mother before going to his bedroom, taking an aluminium baseball bat and attacking her.
Police said Billingsley charged at his mother with the bat and struck her in the head.
When officers arrived at the residence, they reportedly found the woman with a laceration on her forehead.
The woman told the authorities that her son had assaulted her and was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment of what police described as critical injuries.
Following his arrest, Billingsley allegedly admitted to police that he had taken an aluminium bat from his bedroom and charged at his mother with it.
According to the police affidavit, Billingsley said the altercation began because his mother had not got him any food.
Billingsley was subsequently charged with attempted second-degree murder and domestic assault causing bodily harm.
The allegations against him have not been proven in court.
