The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Sokoto State, Alhaji Haruna Sarkin-Gobir Adiya, has commended Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for pioneering the establishment of a state-owned airline in the Northern part of Nigeria.
Speaking to newsmen in Sokoto on Friday, Alhaji Adiya described the procurement of no fewer than five brand new aircraft for the airline as timely, given the current need for more reliable and affordable air transportation in the state and the country at large.
“I am truly happy and excited that the state-owned airline has tangibly become a reality, all courtesy of the unwavering commitment, zeal and patriotism of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto,” he said.
The APC Chairman added that the airline would boost transportation from Sokoto to other parts of the country and the world, and also enhance the state’s revenue base.
“This airline will surely bolster transportation from Sokoto as well as other parts of the country and the world.
” It will also greatly boost the revenue base of the state that will inevitably translate into more developmental projects, hence consolidating the giant strides of the Governor from 2023 to date,” he said.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Adiya further said the APC in Sokoto State was fully prepared for the forthcoming 2027 general elections and would abide by all electoral laws and guidelines.
“We are 100 per cent ready to obey the law guiding the election, the guidelines and the law.
“We will call our supporters and tell them what the law says, what they should do and what they should not do,” he stated.
He pledged that the party would sign any peace accord required by security agencies and would continue to support the police command in ensuring peaceful elections.
“We promise to obey the rules and regulations. Nothing will stop us from doing that, and by the special grace of God, we will support you and assist you in doing your job.
“The Sokoto State Police Command and other security agencies as well as the people of the state will not be let down,” he said.
