I’m a victim of Ibadan Circular Road project’ — APM guber candidate, Adekanmbi

The gubernatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Mr. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has declared that he is one of the victims of the Ibadan Circular Road project that has continued to spark protests for almost a year.

Adekanmbi made the declaration while addressing journalists on Thursday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The construction of the Ibadan Circular Road which started during the tenure of the immediate past governor, Abiola Ajimobi was continued by the Seyi Makinde’s administration but with an extension of areas demarcated as corridor which consumed series of property and structures along the corridor.

While addressing journalists, Adekanmbi explained that he was also affected by the project as his property in Ona Ara Local Government Area was among those affected by the project. He described the situation as painful but said the project would be in the interest of the majority of the public.

“I am a victim of the Ibadan Circular Road. I have a landed property in Ona Ara; it was consumed by the project. I just spoke with the affected victims.

“I am also one of the people affected by the Ibadan Circular Road. It is not easy. I am pained, but there is nothing I can do. If there will be development, it will affect some people, and I am one of them. I am also affected”, he said.

On the insinuation that his choice by Gov. Makinde over other aspirants would make him a stooge of the governor, he explained that he would not be a stooge of Governor Seyi Makinde but would also not betray him.

“I am not Fubara. I came from a good home. I cannot assassinate Seyi Makinde’s character. I will not be an ingrate. I am not like Fubara.

“I will do the right thing. If they tell me to put my hand in fire, will I do it? No. I will not do it. But I will not be an ingrate. I will not be a stooge of Makinde”, he said.
