Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olooye Adegboyega Adegoke, has promised to strengthen local government administration by granting local councils full autonomy and ensuring that grassroots institutions are empowered to deliver meaningful development.
This is as he also raised concerns over the number of out- of – school children in Oyo state, promising targeted interventions to ensure that children of school age have access to quality and affordable education.
Olooye Adegoke made this pledge at the inauguration of the party’s 25-member “Solutions Campaign Council” ahead of the 2027 governorship election, held on Monday at Adegoke’s campaign office in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
Adebayo Olusola Kesh, Esq., was appointed Director-General of the campaign council, which is saddled with coordinating mobilisation, strategic engagement, media activities and grassroots outreach across the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Olooye Adegoke vowed to revive Oyo State by putting great priority to agriculture, power, jobs creation, and most importantly Local Government autonomy.
Maintaining that local government autonomy is a vital tool in grassroots, human development and economic growth, Adegoke said, “If given the opportunity to serve Oyo State as Governor, the local government administration will have full autonomy.
“I will boost agriculture and bring in investors to provide electricity for the people of the state and ensure employment opportunities for the youths,” he further stated.
He said his government would seek private-sector investment in the power sector, boost agricultural production and create employment opportunities for young people across the state.
He charged members of the campaign council to take the ADC’s message of solutions, accountability, inclusive development and grassroots empowerment to the people across the state’s 33 local government areas.
Membership of the Solutions Campaign Council cuts across all the local governments of the state.
