The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has won all the 16 chairmanship seats and 319 of the 323 councillorship positions in the Bauchi State local government elections.
The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), in results released on Monday and signed by its Chairperson, Hon. Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar (Gimbiyar Dass), declared APM candidates winners across the 16 local government areas covered by the announcement.
The party recorded its highest chairmanship vote in Bauchi Local Government Area, where Umar Mohammed Aliyu polled 125,170 votes, followed by Bappah Aliyu Mohammed in Alkaleri with 107,482 votes.
Other notable results included Ya’u Samaila Sade in Darazo with 67,276 votes, Yusuf Babayo Zaki in Katagum with 65,626 and Ali Babayo in Gamawa with 54,423 votes.
APM also secured 319 out of the 323 councillorship seats.
The four remaining seats went to the SDP in Dandango Ward, Bauchi LGA; NRM in Darazo South Ward; ZLP in Wandi Ward, Dass LGA; and YPP in Zirami Ward, Giade LGA.
BASIEC said the successful candidates satisfied the applicable legal requirements and obtained the highest valid votes in their respective constituencies.
The commission congratulated the people of the state and the successful candidates, while reaffirming that the elections were conducted independently and in accordance with the law.
