The pioneer Chief Executive Officer of the World Energy Council Nigeria, Mr Bala Maijama’a Wunti, has pledged to ensure that Nigeria’s interests remain central to his engagement with the global energy community.
Wunti made the commitment on Sunday while speaking virtually at a ceremony organised to mark his appointment, attended by family members, friends, associates and stakeholders.
According to him, his appointment represents a major national responsibility, promising to work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in him.
“I will represent Nigeria and I will not disgrace Nigeria; I will represent those who have confidence in my ability and I will not disgrace them,” he said.
Wunti said he would seek to strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and the international energy community through greater collaboration, investment opportunities, technology transfer and knowledge sharing.
He said the World Energy Council Nigeria would also serve as a platform for promoting discussions around reliable, sustainable and inclusive energy solutions as the country faces increasing demand.
His appointment comes with extensive experience in Nigeria’s petroleum and energy industry, which he is expected to deploy in strengthening Nigeria’s participation in global energy conversations.
The Barden Kudun Bauchi, Dr Hayatu Mustapha, who represented the Emir of Bauchi, congratulated Wunti and expressed confidence that he would bring honour to Nigeria through the new assignment.
The BWSO also described the appointment as a reflection of Wunti’s leadership qualities, professional achievements and contribution to national development.
