The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said it is studying the results of Saturday’s governorship election across the state to determine its next line of action.
The party, in a statement on Sunday signed by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, said it was examining the results from the 332 wards in the state and consulting its legal team on the available constitutional and legal options.
The APC said the electoral process did not end with the declaration of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noting that the law provides avenues for aggrieved parties to seek redress through the Election Petition Tribunal, Court of Appeal and, where applicable, the Supreme Court.
According to the party, “An election cannot be said to have been concluded without having explored all these constitutionally- allowed legal opportunities to correct anomalies observed in the process of the election as enshrined in the Electoral Act 2026, as amended.”
It therefore commended its members and supporters for their commitment and contributions throughout the electoral process, describing them as steadfast and loyal.
The party said it remained committed to the principles of the rule of law, fairness and justice, adding that it would explore all available legal avenues after consultations with its team of lawyers.
The statement noted that the declaration of the governorship election results by INEC was part of the democratic process and would not make the party abandon its commitment to the rule of law.
It consequently urged its members and supporters to remain calm and go about their legitimate businesses, warning them against responding to provocative actions or statements from members of the ruling party.
The party also assured its members that it would not abandon them, while appealing to the Nigeria Police Force to protect its members and supporters against what it described as alleged harassment and molestation by members of the ruling party.
“We are assuring them that we won’t have any cause or reason to abandon them,” the party said.
The APC added that the current political situation in Osun was a passing phase that would eventually become part of history, expressing confidence that justice would ultimately prevail.
