Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election in the state.
Adeleke arrived at Polling Unit 009, Ward 02, Abogunde Compound, Ede North Local Government Area, at about 8:10 a.m., where he subsequently exercised his franchise amid an early turnout of voters.
There was a strong turnout of voters in Ede, the governor’s hometown, as well as parts of Ilesha and Osogbo, with residents arriving at polling units from the early hours of Saturday to participate in the election. Some voters in Ede were seen at their polling units as early as 6:40 a.m., while vehicles conveyed voters and NYSC members to various locations.
Security personnel were also deployed across Ede North and Ede South local government areas, with checkpoints mounted in compliance with the restriction on vehicular movement. Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel were sighted at several polling units before the arrival of INEC officials and election materials.
Local election observers were present at some polling units to monitor the process, while accreditation and voting had commenced at some locations. However, INEC officials were yet to paste the register of eligible voters at some of the polling units visited, even as voters continued to await the completion of the process.
