Governor Bala Mohammed has raised concerns over the impact of bandit attacks on farming communities, saying insecurity is threatening food production and the livelihoods of rural residents in Bauchi State.
The governor made the remarks while receiving the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Maxwell Dangana, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Bauchi.
Mohammed said protecting farmers and rural communities must remain a top priority to sustain agricultural productivity and guarantee food security.
He pledged sustained partnership between the Bauchi State Government and the Nigerian Army to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve security operations across the state.
The governor also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention in tackling insecurity in Alkaleri Local Government Area through the deployment of additional military personnel and resources.
Major General Dangana, who recently assumed office as GOC 3 Division, said his visit was part of a familiarisation tour of military formations within his area of responsibility, which includes Bauchi, Plateau, Taraba, Gombe and Adamawa states.
He described Bauchi as home, recalling that he spent part of his childhood in the state.
