2027: SWAGA Targets 90 Percent Southwest Votes For Tinubu – Abegunde

The South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) has unfolded plans to deliver the majority of the total votes in the Southwest geo-political zone to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in next year’s presidential election.

The Coordinator of SWAGA in Ondo State and Executive Director, Corporate Services, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde, said the group is showcasing the achievements of President Tinubu to voters ahead of the election.

Abegunde, popularly called Abena, said SWAGA 2.0 was launched with the aim of showcasing President Tinubu’s achievements and preparing support ahead of the 2027 election. He said the group recently launched the agenda in Osun State and would soon be extended to Ekiti and other states.

The former Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG) spoke when he was honoured by Club Elan, a prominent social club in Akure, the state capital.

Others honoured with him included the state Head of Service (HoS) and Chief Segun Odusola, Special Adviser to the Minister of Interior on Correctional Reforms, Mr. Tunde Ogundare; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Ajaka; his counterparts in the Energy Ministry, Physical Planning, and Water Resources, Hon. Sunday Olajide; Hon. Johnson Alabi; and Hon. Ayodele Akande.

Abegunde explained that SWAGA was an initiative designed to educate the public about Tinubu’s performance in office and counter what he described as opposition narratives. He cited the President’s international engagements and recognition as evidence of his standing and achievements.

According to him, SWAGA is trying to educate the people about Tinubu’s performance, what he has done in office, where the nation was, and the present social and economic situations.

His words: ” We are preaching about Tinubu’s reelection. We want people to hear about it, what he has done and his performance. When you listen to the opposition, we see them talking about something different from the achievements.

“For a president to have been invited by King Charles to come to Britain and been given such a rousing welcome in England, not only that, but President Donald Trump of the United States of America USA has also commended Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This shows that the President has performed well.”

Speaking on the award received from Club Elan, Abegunde expressed gratitude to the club, describing it as a supportive organisation made up of people of integrity.

Similarly, Ogundare, who is the Special Adviser to the Minister of Interior on Correctional Services,e expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of Club Elan for finding them worthy of the honour.

He described the recognition as a challenge to do more in serving the nation, saying it was the first time the club would honour several of its members occupying strategic government positions simultaneously.

Ogundare also highlighted reforms introduced in the Nigerian Correctional Service under the Ministry of Interior, saying inmates’ daily feeding allowance had increased from ₦650 to ₦1,125, while vocational training programmes had significantly reduced the rate of repeat offences among ex-inmates.

He said new correctional facilities and improved infrastructure were being developed across the country, adding that the reforms were aimed at rehabilitating inmates and preparing them for productive lives after incarceration.
