The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 131,165 new voters were registered in Edo State following the conclusion of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to a report issued by the Public Affairs Officer of INEC in Edo State, Toyin Buoro, the registration exercise lasted from August 2025 to July 2026.
The report also revealed that 52,907 registered voters successfully transferred their voting locations to new polling units during the exercise.
In addition, INEC processed 19,565 applications for updates to voter records, including requests for changes of name, correction of spelling errors, dates of birth, gender, residential addresses and professions.
The commission disclosed that Owan West Local Government Area recorded the lowest number of newly registered voters, with 3,393 people completing the registration process.
It added that the INEC State Office recorded the highest number of new registrations, with 11,747 voters enrolled during the exercise.
Among the local government areas, Ovia North East recorded 11,613 new voters, while Oredo Local Government Area followed with 9,544 newly registered voters.
