The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN), has distributed 600,000 bags of fertiliser to supporters of the party across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State in an effort to reduce the burden on farmers and boost agricultural activities.
Speaking during the official flag-off of the distribution at the party’s Next Level Secretariat in Bauchi on Tuesday, the former governor said the gesture was aimed at supporting APC members during this year’s farming season.
He explained that the 600,000 bags of fertiliser were provided through the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and the Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar/Faruq Mustapha Campaign Organisation, with the aim of easing the challenges faced by farmers in accessing the commodity.
He said the fertiliser would be distributed across the 20 local government areas and all the wards in the state.
The governorship candidate also thanked party supporters and commended the distribution committee for its efforts.
Speaking at the event, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, urged the committee to ensure fairness and justice in the distribution process and to ensure that the fertiliser reached the intended beneficiaries at the grassroots across the 20 local government areas.
He also called on beneficiaries to use the fertiliser for farming purposes and not sell it in the market.
Other speakers, including the state APC chairman and the chairmen of the three senatorial districts, expressed appreciation for the initiative and expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the next election.
