The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday formally inaugurated its National Campaign Council for the August 15 Osun State governorship election, declaring its determination to reclaim the state and use the contest as a launch pad for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on behalf of the council members, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Campaign Council, Senator Hope Uzodimma, said the party would deploy an issue-based, people-oriented campaign anchored on unity, discipline and grassroots mobilization to secure victory for the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
Uzodimma described the assignment as a “solemn obligation” and pledged that the council would engage voters across communities, wards and polling units, while promoting peaceful and credible elections.
“We will organise, mobilise and deliver. We will return Osun to the progressive fold and secure a decisive, peaceful and credible victory for the APC,” he said.
Inaugurating the council, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the Osun governorship election as a critical test of the party’s preparedness for the 2027 general elections.
He said the APC possessed unmatched political structures, human resources and experience across the country, expressing confidence that the party would defeat its opponents through intensive grassroots and door-to-door campaigns.
“Winning the Osun election is a must for the APC. This election will serve as our rehearsal and litmus test ahead of 2027,” Yilwatda declared.
The APC governorship candidate, Oyebamiji, told party leaders that the people of Osun were eager for a return to progressive governance, insisting that support for the APC had continued to grow across the state’s 30 local government areas.
He said extensive engagements with traditional rulers, market groups, youths, women and professionals showed widespread acceptance of the party’s message of prosperity and good governance.
“The people of Osun State are ready. The Osun APC is ready. Our campaign is ready. Together, we will win and rescue Osun,” Oyebamiji said.
The inauguration attracted governors, National Assembly members, ministers, members of the National Working Committee and other party stakeholders drawn from across the country.
