England vs Argentina: Agbonlahor, Bent tell Tuchel who should lead attack

Former England internationals Gabby Agbonlahor and Darren Bent have urged Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel to make changes to his attack ahead of Wednesday’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina.

The former strikers believe Marcus Rashford should start on the right wing in place of Noni Madueke.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said Rashford has the pace and quality to trouble Argentina’s full-backs.

“I wouldn’t mind seeing Rashford on that side. I just think sometimes, you look at the Argentinian full-backs – they are there for the taking.

“Rashford didn’t get on last game. Why can’t you play Rashford off that right-hand side?

“And then you bring him off maybe for Saka on 60 minutes, if Saka can’t start games. But I think Madueke has played himself out of a starting spot,” Agbonlahor said.

Bent also backed Rashford to start on the right but suggested Anthony Gordon should keep his place on the left wing.

“I don’t think Noni Madueke plays, but he might even gamble and try Rashford out there. He could play there and keep Anthony Gordon on the left,” Bent said.

England will face defending champions Argentina in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday, with the winners advancing to Sunday’s final.
