Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has stressed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies operating in the state by providing the necessary assistance to operate and succeed in their constitutional responsibilities.
Fubara gave the assurance on Monday during the grand finale of the 163rd Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026, held at the General Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He emphasized that the success of the military is equally the success of the government and assured that his administration will continue to assist the security forces in terms of the provision of logistics, infrastructure and institutional support required for them to do their job effectively.
Fubara applauded the Nigerian Army for its professionalism, technological advancement, manpower development and operational readiness, as demonstrated in the military drills and ceremonial parade at the event.
He expressed appreciation to the President and Commander -In- Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing the needed leadership for the military to do their job of securing the territorial integrity of the country.
Fubara said that the choice of Port Harcourt as the venue of the celebration is an eloquent testimony that Rivers State is peaceful and secure, contrary to the negative narratives and sponsored misinformation about the security situation in the state.
“The choice of Port Harcourt as host of the Nigeria Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026 means a lot to me as the Governor and to the good people of Rivers State. It signifies peace.
” It signifies normalcy in our state, as against the numerous negative things we read in the newspapers and the ones we see on social media, some of which are being sponsored to malign the state and my person,” he said.
He , however, appealed to the Federal Government and the military high command to place the welfare of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army as top priority.
He noted that improved welfare remains essential for optimum performance of the troops.
