Sanwo-Olu Mourns Odumbaku’s Wife, Hails Her Service to God, Humanity

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep condolences to a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cardinal James Odumbaku, over the death of his wife, Mother Celestial Olasinmi Akindele Odunmbaku.

In a condolence message issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the governor described the late Mother Celestial Odunmbaku as a devoted Christian, accomplished public servant and supportive partner who lived a life of impact.

Sanwo-Olu also sympathised with members of the Odumbaku family, leaders and members of the Celestial Church of Christ, especially the parish where the deceased worshipped, urging them to uphold her legacy of service and dedication.

The governor said the deceased lived a fulfilled life in the service of God and humanity, noting that her contributions would continue to be remembered.
“On behalf of my beloved family, the Lagos State Government and residents, as well as APC leaders and members in Lagos State, I sympathise with a revered member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Cardinal James Odumbaku, on the death of his beloved wife, Mother Celestial Olasinmi Akindele Odunmbaku,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He described her passing as a painful loss, not only to her immediate family but also to the Christian community, her associates and the wider society.

According to the governor, the deceased distinguished herself in public service during her tenure as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Ondo State, where she championed several programmes aimed at empowering women and youths.

Sanwo-Olu added that Mother Celestial Odunmbaku was a committed servant of God and a dependable pillar of support to her husband, Cardinal James Odumbaku, popularly known as “Baba Eto.”

He prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked God to grant Cardinal Odumbaku, the bereaved family and members of the church the strength to bear what he described as an irreparable loss.
