Voting exercise started very early in many parts of Ekiti State with electoral Officers at their polling booths as from 7.10 in the morning. Voters turned out massively especially at St. Michael Secondary School, Ejigbo, Ekiti where there were two polling units.
Interestingly, different queues were created for different sets of voters to make the voting exercise seamless. Elderly ones, among them and 86-year old man, PaSunny Sunday, were on a line so that they could be attended to fast.
There was also a line for the physically challenged ones in which there was a 56-year old woman Ojo Omowunmi Hannah on a wheel chair. There was also another line for nursing mothers. According to the officials, it was intended to attend to the elderly ones who could not afford to stand or sit in the sun for long. Same for the physically challenged ones.
Mutiat Aliu, the Pressing Officer at Ward 4, Unit 2 told Sunday Telegraph that the exercise was ongoing smoothly with the voters complying with the instructions being dished out to them.
However, as at 8.30 a.m when accreditation and voting were supposed to commence, the BVAS refused to work. The elderly who were called to the front first had to sit for sometime. At 8. 38 a.m, the BVAS came on and accreditation started. It was the same experience at the Unit 2.
