There is growing panic among the three front line political parties in Anambra state following a full proof plot by the All Progressives Congress APC to win all the state and National Assembly seats in the area.
It was gathered that the just concluded primary elections for the National and state Assembly in the state was a test case for it’s anticipated victory in the coming election as over two million members participate in the exercise.
Deepening the fate of other political parties is the gale of defections across the three political parties by aspirants and their supporters who felt short changed in the last primary elections of those respective parties.
Confirming this current development the state Chairman of the APC Sen Emma Anosike stated shortly after a meeting of ward and local government Chairmen of the party ;
“Our party is set to deliver the state and National Assembly seats in Anambra state and when you calculate the number of registered members who voted in the last Direct primary elections which is estimated at over two million other parties are not just panicking but becoming too afraid of the ultimate outcome of the 2027 general elections in the state”
“Even a large number of membership of APGA , ADC and NDC are defecting in droves into our party due to the manner their primary elections were conducted and they are coming in with their supporters”
Anosike also confirmed that he and some members his State Executive Committee ( SEC) as well as State Working Committee (SWC) have receiving calls from top leaders of the three parties wondering how the party was able to conduct a seemles and fair primary elections and mobilizing such intimidating members of the party .
“Why would they not be shocked when they saw the outcome of our primary elections and you know that they have in the past always wished the APC away but now their times are up ”
“Members of the SEC and SWC have been telling about the number of calls from these parties and the fears that they are expressing about the conduct of our primary elections because their own parties did not respect the internal democracy as a result of that their agreived members are defecting to the APC ” he said.
Also speaking the state Publicity Secretary of the party Sir Valentine Iliobi said that while aspirants and members of other parties are leaving out of protest , non of it’s aspirants are dumping the party explaining that the party set up a reconciliation committee headed by Chief Obi Onwuachu as Chairman.
“Others include Ichie Mike Ejezie ,
Ichie Amaechi Chinweze , Chief Chris Akaghalu while Chief Mrs Tina Araonu is the Secretary of the Committee ”
“With the crop of members of the committee there is no way anyone would want to defect and in our party we do some kind of basketing that takes care of those who did not win tickets of our party and still keep them in the family” he noted .
