Oyo State Police Command has disclosed that it killed two of the kidnappers who abducted Mrs. Adegoke Olaide Busayo, (42) and her eleven-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, last Wednesday, adding that one Wale Abolalewa, (a.k.a “Oloro”) and Dare Oyedele (a.k.a “Solution”) identified as a key operational link within the gang’s structure, were arrested.
Additionally, the Command said that two other suspects identified as agents responsible for contracting and facilitating the use of the said criminal hideout were arrested. They are: Semiu Ishola, (39) and Adeyemi Ayobami (35) years, and are currently in police custody assisting ongoing investigation.
The Police Commissioner, Mr. Abimbola Olugbenga, who said that the surveillance and operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), in synergy with the Oyo State Police Command and other tactical teams, disclosed this after conducting journalists round the scene where the kidnappers were rounded up at their hideout located at Lado community of Ayegun in Ibadan. In the 3-bed room apartment, blood stains of two of the kidnappers who were shot at the entrance of the house, splattered the floor. Safe for a 3 and a half mattress put on the floor of one of the rooms, and a set of upholstered chairs arranged in the living room, nothing tangible was in the apartment where the three victims were held hostage for four days.
According to the Police Boss, exhibits recovered from the hideout included: “1. 3 pump-action guns rifle; 2. 1 the unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla used for the abduction; 3. 14 live Cartridges. 4. Criminal Charm; 5. 1 Battle Axe; 6. 1 Hammer; 7. Substances suspected to be hard drugs; and 8. 2 face-masks.
“Investigations are ongoing, with intensified efforts to apprehend other fleeing suspects believed to have escaped with varying degrees of gunshot injuries sustained during the encounter with operatives.
“In light of the foregoing, the Command calls on members of the public, medical practitioners, private hospital operators, traditional bone setters, and other healthcare providers to promptly report any individual presenting with suspicious gunshot injuries or unusual medical cases to the nearest Police Station or security agency. Such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
“Furthermore, residents are strongly advised to remain vigilant and security conscious, and to promptly report any suspicious movement, unusual activity, strange persons, or security concerns within their communities. Timely, credible, and actionable information remains vital to effective crime prevention, detection, and successful law enforcement operations”, he said.
The rescued victims were abducted at Elewura, area of Challenge in Ibadan around 7.30 a.m when the mother was conveying her 12-year old twin boys to school in her car. The three were whisked into their unregistered Corolla car and taken away.
