TETFund intervention ends power, internet challenges at Osun College

The Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, has said the Tertiary Education Trust Fund’s (TETFund) Skills Development Intervention has helped it overcome longstanding electricity and internet connectivity challenges that had hindered teaching, learning and administrative activities.

The institution disclosed this in a letter of appreciation to TETFund, stating that the intervention had transformed its academic environment through the provision of modern facilities, equipment, Starlink internet services and a mini-solar grid.

The letter, signed by the Rector, Mr Samuel
Adewumi, was conveyed in a statement issued on Friday by the Director of Public Affairs, TETFund, Abdulmumin Oniyangi.

According to the college, the intervention has significantly enhanced the institution’s capacity to deliver quality education while equipping staff and students with industry-relevant skills.

Adewumi said the project had been successfully completed and all payments due to the institution had been received.

He noted that the intervention provided the college with facilities and equipment that had remained unaffordable for years, describing the support as a major boost to the institution’s development.

He said, “The Starlink internet and mini-solar grid components of the project have enabled our college to address some of its most fundamental power and connectivity-related challenges which hitherto had been undermining critical aspects of learning on the campus.

“The college can now boast of independent and stable electricity and internet connectivity, which have greatly improved the college resources and capacity to drive academic and administrative engagements.”

The Rector added that the intervention had contributed to a more vibrant academic environment and improved access to modern learning tools, leading to better educational outcomes.

According to him, the project has strengthened the institution’s capacity and improved the quality of its academic programmes.

Adewumi further stated that the intervention had repositioned the college to meet the demands of 21st-century education by enhancing practical and industry-focused training.

He commended TETFund for its continued support to tertiary institutions across the country and pledged the institution’s commitment to ensuring prudent utilisation of intervention funds.

TETFund’s Skills Development Intervention is part of the Fund’s mandate to rehabilitate, restore and consolidate tertiary education in Nigeria through strategic funding of projects and capacity-building initiatives.
