The Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as visionary leadership and unprecedented commitment to infrastructural transformation and national development across the country.
Goronyo made the remarks during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial Primary Election for Sokoto East Senatorial District held in Sokoto State, where Senator Umar Ajiya emerged as the party’s senatorial candidate, according to the statement from his media aide, Abdullahi Mohammed.
The minister stated that the Tinubu administration has demonstrated strong political will in executing strategic road and infrastructure projects aimed at connecting economic corridors, stimulating commerce, strengthening national integration, and improving the living standards of Nigerians.
He highlighted the Federal Government’s four Legacy Road Projects cutting across the six geopolitical zones of the country. According to him, the projects are designed to boost economic activities and enhance regional connectivity nationwide.
The projects, he said, include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway traversing Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states; the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway linking Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Oyo and Lagos State; the Calabar-Ebonyi-Benue-Kogi-Nasarawa-Abuja Superhighway; and the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri Road Corridor.
Goronyo also listed several ongoing road projects under the Renewed Hope Agenda across different regions of the country.
In the South-East, he identified the reconstruction of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and the Enugu-Port Harcourt Road as critical interventions aimed at improving transportation and economic activities.
For the South-West, he cited ongoing works on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, while in the North-West and North-Central, he mentioned projects such as the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Dual Carriageway, Sokoto-Zamfara-Katsina-Kaduna Corridor, Kano-Kwanar Hadejia Road, Zaria-Funtua-Gusau-Sokoto Road, and Kano Bypass.
Speaking on the North-East, the minister highlighted the Kano-Maiduguri Expressway, Maiduguri-Monguno Road, and the Gamboru Bridge rehabilitation project in Borno State as vital infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing security, trade and regional integration.
He further noted ongoing interventions within the Federal Capital Territory, including the Abuja-Lokoja route and the Koton Karfe-Abaji Road project.
According to him, beyond infrastructure, the Tinubu administration has continued to implement people-oriented policies and provide critical social amenities targeted at improving citizens’ welfare and accelerating socio-economic development nationwide.
Goronyo said the achievements recorded within a relatively short period justified the confidence Nigerians placed in President Tinubu and called for continued support for the administration to consolidate on the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The minister also commended the leadership of the APC for the peaceful and transparent conduct of the party’s primary elections across the country, describing the exercise as a reflection of internal democracy and party unity.
He congratulated Umar Ajiya on his emergence as the APC candidate for Sokoto East Senatorial District and expressed confidence in his ability to provide quality representation for the people.
