Jide Awobona has expressed frustration after losing both his iPhone and Samsung device during the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Taking to Instagram, the Nollywood actor revealed that the incident happened during the award event held a week ago. Awobona said the experience taught him never to ignore his instincts, noting that he initially wanted to leave before the after-party but was persuaded to stay.
According to him, had he followed his instincts, his phones might not have gone missing.
Despite the loss, the actor said he remains grateful to God for his safety and appreciated everyone who had tried reaching him over the past few days.
Explaining his absence, Awobona disclosed that both phones were stolen at the AMVCA venue, leaving him struggling to recover his SIM cards, apps, and work schedule stored on the devices.
In his post, he wrote:
“AMVCA 2026, you reminded me never to ignore my instinct. If I had obeyed my instinct and ignored those advising me to wait for the after-party, maybe my iPhone and Samsung wouldn’t have been picked.
“Anyways, I am here and still grateful to God.
“If you have been trying to reach me since Sunday, I am back now. My two phones were picked at AMVCA. Aside from the difficulty in getting my SIMs and apps back up and running, I was also hoping to recover the phones.
“Please resend your messages from Saturday. Also, if you booked me for any gig, kindly send a reminder with the dates because my schedule was on the stolen phones.”
