The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Works has signed contract agreements with four construction firms for the execution of critical road projects across the country as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The contract signing ceremony, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, is aimed at improving road connectivity, stimulating economic growth, and enhancing transportation infrastructure nationwide.
The projects awarded include the reconstruction of the Mando (Kaduna)–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State to Messrs J. Patel and Sons Nigeria Limited; dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road in Oyo and Ogun States to Messrs JRB Construction Company Limited; construction of the Osogbo–Ikirun–Akoda Road in Osun State to Messrs Truecrete Solutions Limited; and construction of the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road in Osun and Oyo States to Messrs Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, described the projects as strategic national infrastructure that would boost economic activities, improve transportation efficiency, and strengthen national integration.
Umahi noted that the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road was one of the key infrastructure promises made by President Tinubu during the 2022/2023 election campaigns.
According to him, the administration remains committed to delivering world-class infrastructure capable of lasting for generations through the adoption of rigid pavement technology.
“Our vision is to build roads that will last for generations. Under the Renewed Hope administration, we are determined to deliver infrastructure that can serve Nigerians for up to 100 years through the adoption of rigid pavement (concrete) technology,” the minister stated.
Umahi commended the selected contractors for their competence and proven capacity, expressing confidence in indigenous construction firms.
He specifically praised Messrs JRB Construction Company Limited and Truecrete Solutions Limited for their performances on previous projects across the country.
The minister directed all contractors to immediately mobilise to their various project sites and commence work without delay, stressing that the Ministry expected measurable progress within stipulated timelines.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Rafiu Olarinre Adeladan, who formally signed the agreements, described the ceremony as the completion of the procurement process and the official commencement of project implementation.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to effective monitoring, quality assurance, and timely delivery of all projects.
Also speaking, the Director of Highways, Construction and Rehabilitation, Mr. Clement Ogbuagu, disclosed that the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Mando–Birnin Gwari Road was awarded at a cost of ₦178.1 billion.
He added that the 114.5-kilometre dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road was awarded for ₦295.9 billion, while the 70-kilometre Osogbo–Ikirun–Akoda Road project would cost ₦101.8 billion.
According to him, the 73-kilometre Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road project was awarded for ₦114.8 billion.
Ogbuagu stated that all the projects would be executed using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) technology in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering durable and sustainable road infrastructure nationwide.
