Bauchi State Police Command has called on residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely information following the arrest of a suspected armed robber in Ningi Local Government Area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, made the call after the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect accused of attacking a commercial motorcyclist and stealing his motorcycle along Gada Maiwa – Zakara Road.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the Command said the suspect, Abdullahi Gambo of Kanaka Village in Ganjuwa LGA, allegedly assaulted the Okada rider with a stick on May 11, 2026.
The victim reportedly sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Police said operatives from the Ningi Division, aided by community members, swiftly pursued and arrested the suspect while recovering the stolen motorcycle.
The statement added that the suspect voluntarily confessed during interrogation and is currently in custody pending transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for detailed investigation and prosecution.
Aliyu commended the swift response of the police operatives and the support provided by local residents in tracking down the suspect.
He stressed that collaboration between the public and security agencies remained vital in combating criminal activities across the state.
The Commissioner further warned criminal elements to desist from unlawful acts, assuring residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
