The presidency has assured that President Bola Tinubu is doing everything possible to ensure that he completes every road project he started.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the president, Bayo Onanuga who spoke in Kaduna during media tour of some federal and state road projects, said funding is no longer the problem.
The project, which include the 355 Abuja-Kaduna dual carriageway and the 51 km East, West Kaduna bypass, Onanuga explained, would be be completed by the Tinubu administration.
“The government is doing a lot of things. It’s just incredible that some people will open their mouth and say this government has not done anything,” he stated.
Federal controller of roads in charge of Kaduna State, Engineer Ulagu Loveday, explained that about 19.97 km has been constructed in the Western end of the Kaduna bypass.
He expressed confidence that the road will be completed by December this year.
“As it stands now, we are at a 40 percent completion,” the controller said, adding that the contract which was awarded in 2021 was delayed by two years because of payment of tax credit.
“The extended completion date now is going to be in December of 2026, all things being equal.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Information and Culture Ahmed Maiyaki, said the Eastern bypass will free Kaduna city from gridlock.
The commissioner explained that the project was delayed for 22 years because of lack of funds.
He disclosed that an advance payment of N9 billion has already been paid.
“At the end of this year, we should be able to talk about moving from Kakao Bridge down to Kaduna area, to avoid all this gridlock,” Maiyaki stated.
