The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has declared that it is at the center of a growing opposition alliance aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s political future ahead of the next general election.
In a statement issued by its factional National Publicity Secretary, Oladipo Johnson in Abuja on Sunday, the party said the country is witnessing a “historic realignment of purpose,” as opposition forces rally around a shared vision to address Nigeria’s pressing economic and governance challenges.
Johnson noted that what was once a collection of individual political parties has now evolved into a unified movement driven by the collective will of Nigerians seeking change. According to him, the coalition is anchored on shared values and a firm commitment to “rescue the nation” from its current hardships.
He expressed confidence that the alliance possesses the strength and popular mandate required to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election cycle.
Despite this optimism, the NNPP raised concerns over what it described as “systemic hurdles” allegedly being put in place to undermine the democratic process. The party suggested that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may be reluctant to allow a level playing field.
“The Nigerian people will not accept anything less than a free, fair, and transparent contest,” Johnson stated, warning that no amount of political maneuvering would suppress the growing demand for change.
He further emphasized the party’s readiness not only to secure victory at the polls but also to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process. According to the NNPP, protecting the sanctity of the ballot box remains central to its mission of ushering in a new era of competent and people-oriented leadership in Nigeria.
