Osun Security Trust Fund: Govt urges generous donations from public

Osun State Government has formally unveiled a Security Trust Fund to guarantee safer environment for residents to live in and go about their legitimate businesses.

Addressing journalists at the Governor’s Office in Osogbo on Tuesday, Kunle Adepoju, the Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, urged members of the public to contribute generously to the Fund in order to ensure a safer Osun.

Reiterating the commitment of the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration to the safety, stability, and prosperity of the state, Adepoju explained that the initiative would strengthen Osun security architecture through collaboration, innovation, and shared responsibility.

He said, “Security is the foundation upon which all meaningful development is built. Without it, businesses cannot thrive, communities cannot flourish, and citizens cannot live with confidence.

“While government has the primary responsibility to ensure safety, the realities of our time demand a broader, more inclusive approach. This Trust Fund embodies that approach.”

Noting that the initiative goes beyond just gathering money, Adepoju stressed: “The Osun State Security Trust Fund is not just a financial mechanism, it is a platform for partnership.

“It brings together government, the private sector, development partners, and well-meaning individuals to pool resources and support our security agencies with the tools they need to perform effectively.”

“From modern equipment and technology to training, logistics, and intelligence gathering, this initiative is designed to address critical gaps and enhance operational efficiency,” he added.

He assured that transparency and accountability will be the guiding principles of the Fund, adding, “We have established a governance structure that ensures proper oversight, prudent management, and regular public reporting.

“Every contribution will be tracked, and every expenditure will be justified. The trust of our people is paramount, and we earned it and intend to maintain it.”

To the business community in the state , Adepoju said, “Your investments depend on a secure environment. This is an opportunity to directly contribute to the protection of your assets and the stability of the market in which you operate.”

Addressing citizens, he averred, “Security is everyone’s business. Beyond financial contributions, your vigilance, cooperation with law enforcement, and commitment to peace are invaluable.”

He reminded security agencies that the initiative is a testament to government’s confidence in their dedication and service. “We are committed to supporting you as you continue to safeguard our communities with professionalism and integrity,” he assured.

According to Adepoju who was flanked by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment in the state, Kolapo Alimi and other members of the Trust Fund Committee, the Trust Fund would be formally launched on Thursday by Governor Adeleke.

For him, the launch is not the end, rather, it is the beginning of a sustained effort. “Together, we can build a safer Osun where families sleep peacefully, entrepreneurs invest boldly, and our youth can aspire without fear,” he opined.

“I call on all stakeholders to join us in this mission. Let us stand united, contribute generously, and work tirelessly to secure our future,” he said.

The Information Commissioner warned against politicising the initiative, noting that security of Osun should be paramount to every indigine regardless of political affiliations.Political Analysis Reports
