Daily fuel consumption in Nigeria fell to 56.9ml in February – NMDPRA

The daily fuel consumption in Nigeria reduced to 56.9million litres in February from 64.9million litres (ml) in January, Data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) showed.

The NMDPRA Fact Sheet on the midstream and downstream sector released on Tuesday also stated that fuel domestic daily supply fell to 39.6ml in February from 64.9ml in January while fuel stock sufficiency in February was 30.8 days as against 32.9 days in January.

The data also showed that DPRP’s fuel domestic supply was 40.1ml/d in January but 36.6ml/d in February while diesel domestic supply was 18.9ml/d in January as against 24.4ml/d in January.

NMDPRA fact sheet also stated that diesel consumption increased from19.2ml/d in January to 20.3ml/d in February while diesel stock sufficiency was 34.22 days in January and 47.6 days in February.

The data posited that liquified petroleum gas domestic supply fell from 5.1kt/d in January to 4.7kt/d in February while domestic natural gas supply declined from 4.837Bscf/d to 4.771Bscf/day in February.

The fact sheet also stated that in February, the average capacity utilisation of Dangote Refinery was 78.13%; average domestic fuel supply was 36.6ml/d, and average domestic diesel supply was 8.2ml/d.

NMDPRA also said that Port Harcourt Refinery (PHRC) was shut down, however, evacuation of diesel produced while the refinery was operational averahed 0.392ml/d; Warri Refinery (WRPC) was shut down and Kaduna Refinery (KRPC) was also shut down. However, closure of refinery, diesel averaged at 0.027ml/d was tucked out of the domestic market.
