Prince Sesi Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, on Tuesday distributed 100 sets of solar inverter kits to constituents across the federal constituency.
Mr Peter Dansu, the media aide to the lawmaker disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Badagry.
According to him, the initiative was to ease the burden of poor electricity supply in Badagry,
The initiative, powered by the Rural Electrification Agency REA, is aimed at providing a reliable alternative power source for residents who have continued to grapple with irregular public electricity supply.
The distribution ceremony took place on Feb 3, 2026, at Whingan’s constituency office in Ibereko. Officials of the Rural Electrification Agency.
He said the distribution was led by Mr Tanimowo Segun, supervised the exercise and handed over the solar kits to selected beneficiaries.
“Beneficiaries were drawn from the three local councils in the constituency, Badagry Local Government, Olorunda Local Council Development Area, and Badagry West Local Council Development Area, ensuring broad and fair representation.
“Each beneficiary received a 1.2KW lithium battery powered inverter complete with solar panels.
“The system is designed to be flexible, as it can be charged through solar energy, public electricity supply, or a generator, offering users multiple options to stay powered”
Speaking at the event, Whingan, who was represented by Chief Sedegla Pot-Balogun, Chairman of the Sesi Whingan campaign team, reaffirmed his commitment to practical interventions that directly improve the living conditions of his constituents.
He noted that access to stable electricity remains critical for households, small businesses, and students.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful, especially in a period when energy costs and power shortages continue to affect daily life in Badagry.
The solar distribution project is one of several constituency driven interventions facilitated by Hon. Whingan in collaboration with relevant federal agencies to address pressing social and infrastructural needs in Badagry Federal Constituency.
