The Senator Representing Borno South at the National Assembly, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has commended the military for the recent successes recorded in virous operations in Sambiza Forest, Mandara mountain and Lake Chad shores and called on them to sustain the ongoing operations .
It could be recalled that recent the military has intensified offensive in the Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists enclaves in Sambisa Forests, Mandara Mountains bordering Cameroun Republic, the Timbuktu Traingle and shores of the Lake Chad region which have recorded a lot of success.
Senator Ali Ndume in a press statement he personally signed, and made available to journalists in Maiduguri on Sunday said “hailed troops, especially the Nigerian Army, Airforce, Police, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, Hunters and other security agencies for their sacrifice and commitment aims to end the over 16-year killings and destructions in Borno state and the entire North East by the terrorists”.
The Senator also acknowledged the support or contributions by Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, his counterparts from other states of Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi and Taraba, which led to the relative peace currently enjoyed in the North East sub region.
Ndume said, for many years he has been an advocates of the Military to take the war to the door steps of insurgents, be proactive rather than reactive and commend the troops for heading to his call now.
He said: “I humbly call on the military authorities to sustain the ongoing operations in the Sambisa Forests, Mandara Mountains bordering Cameroun Republic, the Timbuktu Traingle and shores of the Lake Chad region to stem the tide of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists”
While applauding the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, other Sevice Chiefs and the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North East ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar for heeding to the calls and concern of all, Senator Ndume said the new steps taken which surely lead to ending the lingering Boko Haram war.
Ndume, who was the former Chairman Senate Committee on Army noted that, the synergy between the military, government and resilient civilians led to reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement of millions of hitherto displaced persons back to their liberated homes/communities.
“For many years ago, I was one of the strong advocates, calling upon the Military to take the war to the door steps of insurgents, and to remain proactive rather than reactive. I am happy because, this is what is been manifested now against terrorists.” “, he said
He therefore urged the people to continue give credible information on the whereabout or movement of terrorists or criminals to the relevant security agencies, adding that, fighting insecurity such as terrorism, banditry or kidnapping should not be left on the shoulder of government or security agencies alone.
Ndume prayed Allah (God) to grant Eternal Rest to the Souls of the departed heroes during the renewed onslaught, and wished the injured ones quick recovery for their unwavering commitment and sacrifice for defending their fatherland.
