Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has disclosed that there has been pockets of machinations by certain elements to disturb the atmosphere of peace currently enjoyed in the State.
He said despite their attempts, the State will remain peaceful and united under his leadership.
Speaking during a worship service at Our Saviour’s Methodist Cathedral,Ekit Itam II, Mfonabasi Circuit in Itu local government area, Governor Eno said, “Akwa Ibom is United. Akwa Ibom is a land of peace and people’s attempts to foment trouble will fail.
“All those who hide under political banners are wasting their time. God will not allow their plans to succeed.”
He said his decision to worship in the Church was divinely ochestrated and expressed joy at being re-united with the former Chaplain to the late Prelate Sunday Mbang, Rev Dr. Nse Akpan, who is the Presbyter of the Church.
“I love all churches but worshipping here today is very special to my heart, because of our father the late Prelate Mbang. Prelate Mbang used to organize men of God to pray for my successful election.
“God does not forget, he remembers our good deeds. Coming here is a miracle.
“The Lord laid it heavily in my heart to worship outside Uyo, and when my aides presented videos of churches I chose this one, without even knowing that the Presbyter is Rev Nse.”
The Governor recounted how the Prelate Emeritus’ Chaplain used to cheerfully assist him during those days of his service to Dr Sunday Mbang and maintained that God used that period to groom Rev Nse Akpan for the work ahead.
Earlier in his homily, the Bishop of Itu diocese of the Methodist Church, Rt Rev Friday Jepther who took his reading from John 1:29-42, reminded all of the promise of God never to forsake his people.
“While God is always by our side, he has warned that our hands should not be soiled, and so if we are clean, God will never forsake us.”
He lauded Governor Umo Eno for leading the State in the right way to the promised land, urging him to allow retain his confidence in God.

Taking his prayer from Jeremiah 20:11, he prayed for the continued success of the Umo Eno administration.
He said as an anointed of God, conspiracies against the Governor will not prosper.
He sued for peace and tranquility in the State, and prayed for God’s blessings on the Governor and all residents.
Governor Eno later committed to support the completion of the Church project, leading other dignitaries and government officials to support the project.
