CAN Rebuilds Communal Bonds as Zandi Revives United Christmas Tradition

Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Musa Ashoms in a deliberate move to deepen unity and peaceful coexistence at the grassroots has partnered with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to revive the once flourishing tradition of a united Christmas celebration through an inter-denominational service in Zandi, Jos East Local Government Area of the State

The historic Christmas gathering drew Christians from different denominations and surrounding communities, creating a rare atmosphere of shared worship as believers came together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and reaffirm common values of love, peace and communal harmony.

Speaking at the service, Hon. Ashoms said the revival of the inter -denominational Christmas celebration was rooted in the collective memories of unity that shaped the community in earlier years.

He recalled that Christmas in Zandi was once celebrated as a single Christian family, without regard for denominational boundaries, a culture he said strengthened mutual respect and sustained peaceful coexistence.

According to the commissioner, restoring the tradition was not merely symbolic but strategic, aimed at rebuilding unity as a foundation for development.

He stressed that genuine progress, security and social stability could only thrive where people worked together in harmony, urging residents to preserve the renewed spirit of togetherness beyond the festive period.
