The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) has failed to meet the necessary requirements for registration as a political party.
INEC’s National Commissioner, Sam Olumekun told journalists that although the commission has received several letters of intent from aspiring political groups, none of them including ADA, has satisfied the conditions required to proceed to the formal registration stage.
Olumekun who is also Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, stated that the associations must meet the stipulated criteria before they could submit a valid application.
It was gathered that ADA’s promoters made a critical error by omitting the word “Electoral” in their correspondence to the INEC Chairman, which further weakened their application.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing strict compliance with registration guidelines for all groups seeking political party status.
