Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has preached for unity and peace in his party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The governor, who spoke at the National Convention of the party, said without peace and unity, the party would be empty.
He also quipped that his government in Kano State would be all inclusive, as no one would be left out.
The National Convention of the party held last weekend was an elective one, where the former National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed and other National Working Committee members were reelected for the tenure of four years.
Yusuf, in his speech at the Convention said, “This convention, I must say is not just another gathering, It is a defining moment in the life of our party. It is a moment to reflect on where we are coming from, to examine where we
stand today, and to boldly chart future.
“First and foremost, I want to sincerely thank every one of you for your dedication, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment to our party.
“From the grassroots to the national level, from our founding members to our newest entrants, this party exists and thrives because of your belief in its vision and ideals in particular, I want to sincerely appreciate the effort and contribution of our leader His Excellency RMK from the
inception of this party to date.
“He has exhibited sportsmanship and quality leadership within the party I also want to appreciate the NWC members under the leadership of Alhaji Ahmad Ajuji who has been working tirelessly day and night to ensure the success of the party.
“As we prepare for future political engagements, I call on all leaders at every level to promote inclusiveness and fairness. No ward, no state, no zone and no group should feel marginalized.
“Women and youth, who form the backbone of our population, must be fully carried along-not just in words but in action.
“Let me seize this opportunity to assure this gathering of our continued commitment to inclusive leadership, internal democracy, delivering dividends’ of democracy in Kano State and fairness.
“Together, we will continue to build a party that represents the true aspiration of ordinary Nigerians-a party
prepared not just to contest election, but to govern with integrity and competence.”
On the need for unity in the party, the governor said, “Distinguished delegates, no political party can succeed without unity. History teaches us that parties that stand divided, fall weakened.
“But parties that stand united—bound by shared values, mutual respect, and collective purpose—become unstoppable forces for progress and good governance.
“As we move forward, I urge all leaders and members to promote inclusiveness, fairness, and respect within our ranks.
“Let us carry everyone along—men and women, young and old, professionals and grassroots members alike.
“When every member feels valued, the party grows stronger. When every
voice is heard, the party becomes more resilient.
“Therefore as we conclude this convention with renew determination to
support our party at all level.
“In conclusion, let this convention mark a new chapter of unity and purpose. Let it be remembered as the moment we set aside divisions, strengthened our bonds, and reaffirmed our collective resolve.
“United we shall stand, focused we shall
advance, and together we shall succeed.
May our party continue to grow from strength to strength, may unity guide us, discipline sustain us, and victory crown our collective efforts.”
