100 Days: Ojo LG chairman empowers 1,000 women with N100,000

Mrs Muhibat Rufai-Adeyemi, the Chairman, Ojo Local Government, Lagos says the her administration had empowered more than 1,000 women with N100,000 to boast their small scale businesses amongst others within 100 days in office.

Rufai-Adeyemi disclosed this during press briefing on the account of her stewardship in her 100 days in office, organised by the council on Monday in Lagos.

According to the chairman, I pledged a government of action under the WHACES Agenda.which stands for Work, Health, Agriculture, Capacity Development, Education and sustainability.

“In my 100 days in office, we have commenced major rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads across the Local Government.

“My administration has upgraded multiple boreholes to ensure access to clean water in Ojo Town, Ira, Tedi, Muwo just to mention some few

“We constructed and equipped one of a kind Primary Health Care
Centers in Taffi and Ajangbadi and launched an E-Birth Registration for seamless collection of birth certificates.

“My administration has also conducted a critical Breast Cancer Screening for over 500 women within council and currently in every community with a Polio Vaccination team to protect our children.

“We supported widows, senior citizens, and vulnerable families through targeted relief programme and introduced Back-to-School initiative across the council,” she said.

The chairman said that they had
launched the free feeding program in all primary schools, provided free GCE forms to indigent students, and hosted free ICT and digital literacy training for over 100 youths.

“We sponsored spelling Bee competition and also screened indigent students for bursary award and successful students will be presented with their funds paid into their accounts soon,” she said.

On the line up programme to mark her 100 days in office, the chairman said the activities would start with a free medical outreach within the council premises on Tuesday

“Wednesday will be graduation ceremony for our ICT and Skill Acquisition graduates, where they will receive certificates, tools and gadgets on their various skills.

“On Friday, there will be major Inauguration of Taffi Primary Health Center, the new block of Taffi Classrooms, and a new Utility Boat for our riverine communities,” she said.

She said that Saturday is scheduled for a Walk for Fitness, where all invited residential stakeholders of the council would join them in the awareness walk and showcase the final matches of the council Sports Fiesta Football Match.

Rufai-Adeyemi said that the grand finale would be on Dec.22, which would feature Inauguration of the Ajangbadi PHC, presentation of Bursary Awards, Renewed Hope Food Packs Distribution and the disbursement of funds to over 500 business owners.

She commended the unwavering support of dedicated Legislative council, led by Mr Rahmon Teslim, the Council Leader and all other councillors.

According to her, their partnership, scrutiny, and shared vision have been indispensable.

“To our tireless council management and Staff, our community leaders, our royal fathers, and every resident, this, to me, is your accomplishment,” she said.
