Adamawa State Government said it is working assiduously to ensure that peace prevail in Lamurde Local Government Area of the State following the recent communal clashes that claims more than twelve lives .
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri stated this Thursday through his Deputy Professor Kaletapwa Farauta shortly after a security meeting with security chiefs in her office.
Professor Kaletapwa Farauta said “as a government, we are mindful of all that happened to our people and this afternoon we sincerely want to commiserate, condole and comfort the families of those who lost their loved ones in this communal clash”.
The Deputy Governor explained that steps were taken immediately by moving those affected by bullets to Numan General Hospital while those with fatal cases were moved to Yola Specialist Hospital for more care and surgery.
“Every bills that is needed to be paid by the victims of the clash has been taken over by the State Government and that every case that needs special attention would also be handled by the government”, she assured.
Professor Kaletapwa Farauta noted that, “as at the time of briefing the people of the State, there is absolute calmness in Lamurde as residents are seen going about their usual businesses, except areas affected by the curfew, emphasizing that no single security agencies have been withdrawn from the Area”.
According to her, Government will continue to engage the citizens especially the youths who should know that with peace on ground, there would be development in the Area and called for patience among the people.
On media, the Deputy Governor pleaded with the social media to as a matter of necessity spread the story of peace that could bring everyone together as being together is better than when we are separated nor having issues within us
She reiterated that “if the social media can’t factualize the clash accurately, they should kindly remain calm instead of putting more fire on issues that could have been handled maturely”.
The Deputy Governor however appealed to the warring factions in Lamurde who are brothers and sisters of each other to shield their swords because we need one another as the shedding of blood or killing one another and destruction of properties could not bring peace and development.
She called on religious bodies to intensify prayers as what the government needs from them is prayers, good councilling, advice and speaking the truth to one another.
