The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Lafia Local Government Council, Hon. Mohammad Haliru Arabo, for three months over his role in the depending impeachment crisis that hit the council.
The Speaker, Danladi Jatau announced the suspension during plenary, explained that the suspension of the council was done to allow for a fair investigation in order to restore peace in Lafia
Consequently, the Assembly directed the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Uba Arikiya, to take over the affairs of the local government council pending the outcome of the investigation.
The stre lawmakers said the Chairman acted outside his powers by announcing the suspension of the Speaker of the Lafia Legislative Council in violation, the action, the Lawmakers was capable of destabilising the activities of the local government.
But in a dramatic twist of event, the Legislative Arm the local government reconvened in defilement of State House of Assembly, and suspended Uba Arikya, the deputy Chairman, Uba Arikya, and Acting Chairman of the council, for three months over alleged lying on Oath and abuse of office.
The Acting Speaker Shu’abu Abba announced this development at a prwss briefing after the emergency meeting on Tuesday in Lafia.

New Telegraph repoets that the Deputy Speaker, who doubled as the Acting Speaker, further announced self sussseesion as the acting Chairman of Lafia local government council, saying his sussseesion followed absence of the substantive Chairman, Deputy Chairman and the Substantive Speaker of the legislative arm of the council.
“I am the number four in the hierarchy of the council, and I am the Acting Chairman since the other three are now on suspension,” he added.
Both administrative and legislative activities at the Lafia local government Area was grounded following the depending crisis that hit local government legislature.
