Amid security challenges facing Nigeria,the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has urged Yoruba people to be vigilant.
According to Adeola Oloko, Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the call was made over the weekend at Ode-Omu, Osun State on the occasion of Ode-Omu Day, a yearly celebration where the people took stock of community development and project into the future.
The Olubadan who commended the people under the leadership of Alaye Ode-Omu, Oba James Bolarinwa Oladipupo, for their spirit of community development, pledged the readiness of Ibadan to always support Ode-Omu’s development, adding that next year, an illustrious son and Parakoyi of Ibadanland, Chief Tunde Afolabi, would be drafted to chair Ode-Omu Day.
He urged Yoruba people to be vigilant at all times wherever they are, lest they be caught unawares by those threatening the security of the people. He particularly expressed worry about activities of kidnappers, urging Yoruba people to be at alert and report any suspicious movement of anybody to the security agencies.
Earlier, the former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Wale Adesiyan had told the multitudes that it was the Ibadan ancient warriors that settled Ode-Omu in their present location in 1909. He commended all the royal fathers, particularly the Olubadan for massive attendance at the occasion.
The members of Olubadan-in -Council who graced the occasion include Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, Balogun of Ibadanland; Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Osi Olubadan, and High Chief Senator Sarafadeen Alli, Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, was represented by Salu of Edunabon, Oba Kehinde Oladepo while the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Francis Adedoyin and his Chiefs were also in attendance.
