Remi Tinubu Empowers 9,500 Persons with Disabilities Nationwide

The First Lady, Sen Oluremi Tinubu Wednesday empowered a total of 9, 500 persons with disability across the 36 States of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and, Defence and Police Wives Officers Association with N1.9bn.

She announced the donation virtually in a speech at the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative Economic Empowerment programme for persons with Disabilities in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities held simultaneously across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday in Abuja.

She stated that each state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Defence and Police Officers Wives Association would each received N50million to be distributed in their domains.

According to her, the economic empowerment programme aligns with the Renewed Hope Aganda of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Federal government, which seeks to promote growth and shared prosperity to ensure that no Nigerian was left out, especially those in need.

The First Lady stated that her office was committed to improving th lives of Nigerians as demonstrated through various interventions in Agriculture, Economic Empowerment, Education, Health and, Social Welfare aimed at improving the welfare of families across the country.

Sen Oluremi Tinubu stated that her office has delivered food items to 22 states so far through the monthly.Food Outreach Scheme aside provision of food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

She announced that office has resolved to make the economic empowerment programme for persons with Disabilities an annual event to be held December 3rd in commemoration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

“Today, the Renewed Hope Initiative will provide the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) Business Recapitalization Grants to Two Hundred and Fifty (250) persons with Disabilities in each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to support small business owners to recapitalise their existing businesses and strength their means of livelihood

“Also, each state of the federation, the FCT, and the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association will each received Fifty Million Naira (N50, 000, 000) to be distributed in their domain” Sen Oluremi Tinubu stated.

While urging the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, the First Lady thanked governor Abdullahi Sule and his wife, Salifat for supporting her programmes in the state.
