The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said its governorship primary for the election of the candidate for the 2026 Osun election, still holds on December 2.
The state chapter had in a statement said the election had been suspended due to crisis in the party’s national leadership.
But a statement on Monday by National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Shan, said the gubernatorial primary will hold as scheduled, disclosing that PDP has already notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) since October 28.
Shan added that the party has concluded congresses to elect ad-hoc delegates and National delegates in Osun State on November 24 and 29.
“The party hereby reminds strategic stakeholders and the general public that the primaries to elect the gubernatorial candidate will hold.
“Furthermore, the electoral committee for the primaries has been constituted and will oversee the conduct of the primaries accordingly.
“The candidates cleared for the primaries are advised to behave in accordance with the provisions of our party’s constitution and in the interest of law and order, as any act of indiscipline will be severely punished,” the statement said.
