Diddy blasts 50 Cent over ‘shameful’ Netflix documentary on him

Sean “Diddy” Combs is livid after Netflix unexpectedly announced a four-episode documentary about his life, The Reckoning, scheduled for release on December 2.

In a strongly worded statement issued through his spokesperson, Diddy condemned the project as a “shameful hit piece,” accusing Netflix of relying on private, unauthorised footage — material he claims was never intended for the public, according to a report by Daily Mail.

His team says the platform allegedly used content he has been collecting since his teenage years, insisting that such archives were meant for Diddy to eventually tell his own story, not to be “handed over to outsiders.”

The statement further accuses Netflix of attempting to “sensationalize every moment of Mr. Combs’ life” simply to profit from the controversies surrounding him.

However, the documentary’s director pushed back, maintaining that all footage was obtained lawfully and with the proper rights. She explained that Combs had documented himself extensively over the years and that the materials reached the production team through legitimate avenues.

What reportedly hit Diddy the hardest was the decision to involve 50 Cent — a longtime rival — in the project. His spokesperson described the move as “astonishing,” alleging that 50 Cent has a personal grudge and should never have been given influence over a documentary about Diddy’s life.

Diddy also views the collaboration as a betrayal by Netflix executives he believed he had a good relationship with. He was said to be stunned that the streaming giant would allow someone who has “publicly antagonized him for years” to help shape his story.

Netflix has not issued any further comments, but the platform did release the trailer, featuring a dramatic narration:
“You can’t continue to keep hurting people and nothing ever happens.”

The upcoming series promises exclusive interviews, never-before-seen footage described as “explosive,” and an in-depth look at the rise — and controversies — surrounding the Bad Boy Records founder, who is currently in prison according to the documentary’s framing.
