Ojodu LCDA Boss Marks 100 Days in Office with Free Fuel for Commercial Drivers

Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos was agog on Thursday as the council chairman, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, distributed free fuel vouchers to hundreds of commercial drivers to commemorate his first 100 days in his second term.

A total of 300 transport operators benefited from the initiative. One hundred tricycle operators, popularly known as Keke Marwa, received ₦10,000 worth of fuel each, while another 100 commercial buses and 100 mini-buses (Korope) got ₦20,000 worth of fuel apiece.

The giveaway, done in partnership with three fuel stations within the council, formed part of a series of programmes marking the chairman’s 100-day milestone.

Speaking at the event, Odunmbaku said the gesture was to appreciate commercial drivers for their contributions to the peace and orderliness enjoyed in Ojodu LCDA. He assured residents that his administration would continue to roll out initiatives aimed at easing economic hardship and improving the welfare of the people.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely amid rising costs and worsening economic pressures.

“Our chairman, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, has shown us love by giving us free fuel to mark his 100 days in office. He has made us feel the impact of good governance in our local government. It is not everyone that can do what he has done for us,” said Emmanuel Agbo, a commercial driver who plies the Ogba–Lekki–Ajah axis.

Another beneficiary, Victor Emmanuel, a commercial bus operator who received ₦20,000 worth of fuel, praised the chairman and prayed for the successful completion of his tenure.
Also speaking, Olanrewaju Musiliu, a tricycle operator, expressed joy at being selected.

“I pray for a long life for the chairman and for him to complete his eight-year tenure in good health. He gave us free fuel, which is commendable. It shows he has the interest of the masses at heart,” he said.

Another tricycle operator, Segun, noted that the fuel support would significantly ease his burden. “The fuel will go a long way for me. It will really help me. I want to thank the chairman for the good gesture,” he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, November 25, Odunmbaku had distributed empowerment tools to thousands of residents and small business owners. Items shared included laptops, grinding machines, industrial freezers, industrial ovens, generators, solar panels, and welding machines, among others.
The latest initiative builds on a string of empowerment programmes by the chairman, including the provision of seed capital to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) within the council.
