BREAKING: Tinubu Announces Rescue of All 38 Worshippers Abducted in Kwara Church Attack

President Bola Tinubu has announced that all 38 worshippers kidnapped during a violent attack on a church in Eruku, Kwara State, have regained their freedom.

The victims were abducted on Tuesday when armed bandits stormed the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, in Eruku — a border community between Kwara and Kogi within Ekiti Local Government Area. The incident, which occurred around 6pm, was captured on a live-streaming video showing the congregation in session before rapid gunfire erupted. Worshippers fled in panic as gunshots intensified, moments before armed men forced their way into the church.

In an update posted on X on Sunday, President Tinubu said he had been closely following the security situation across the country, assuring citizens that his administration would continue to prioritise their safety.

The president confirmed that the abducted church members and a group of kidnapped schoolchildren in Niger State had been rescued.

“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued,” Tinubu said.

He added that “I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State, have been recovered.”

Security agencies are expected to release more details on the operations that led to the rescue efforts in the coming days.
