Awolowo’s Grandson, Olusegun, Dies at 62

A former Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Olusegun Awolowo, is dead. He passed away at the age of 62.

Olusegun, a grandson of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, died on Thursday, according to a statement released by his family.

In the statement, the family described his death as a painful loss and paid tribute to his life of service.

“With extremely heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Olusegun Awolowo,” the statement said.

They described him as “a phenomenal husband, father and grandfather — steady, wise, endlessly loving and the constant anchor of our family.”

The family also noted his devotion to Nigeria, saying he served the country with “vision, integrity, passion and unwavering commitment.”

“He was a true family man, a great friend, a wonderful servant of God and a deeply beautiful human being,” they added.

According to the statement, Olusegun Awolowo loved his family, his work and his country, and lived each day “with purpose, humility and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew him.”

“We are shattered by this loss but forever grateful for his life, his legacy and the love he poured into all of us. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.

Awolowo held several key public service positions during his lifetime and was widely respected for his contributions to national development.
