Tension has gripped Kebbi State after terrorists launched a deadly early-morning attack on Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School, abducting several female students and killing a staff member.
The incident occurred around 5:52 a.m. on Monday, just as students were preparing for their morning routines.
According to multiple reports, including HumAngle and SaharaReporters, the armed men stormed the school premises and opened fire, sending students and staff running for safety. A school guard was also injured in the assault.
Residents in the area say the attackers have not travelled far with the abducted schoolgirls. They are urgently calling on both the Federal Government and Kebbi State authorities to launch an immediate rescue operation before the terrorists regroup or move the victims deeper into the forest.
This latest kidnapping comes barely hours after terrorists, commonly referred to as bandits, attacked Rogun Village in the Kpada District of Pategi Local Government Area, Kwara State.
A security source revealed that the gunmen invaded a police outpost late Sunday night and engaged officers in a prolonged gun battle. By the end of the confrontation, two security operatives—a police constabulary and a vigilante officer—were confirmed dead.
The back-to-back attacks have heightened fears among residents across the North-West and North-Central regions, with many calling for stronger security measures and swift government intervention.
