President Bola Tinubu has pledged to intensify the fight against terrorism while deepening Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement with international partners, reaffirming his administration’s focus on security, stability, and economic growth.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,”— President Bola Tinubu.
The statement came Thursday just before the Federal Executive Council convened for its first meeting since July at the Council Chamber of Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Tinubu’s remarks follow the controversial designation of Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ by former U.S. President Donald Trump, a label the Federal Government has described as misrepresenting Nigeria’s security situation.
In his first public comments addressing the designation, Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria is actively engaging with the international community to promote security, attract investment, and enhance diplomatic relations.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners,” Tinubu said.
“The success of the $2.3bn Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy.”
The President reassured Nigerians that the country remains united and resolute in its pursuit of peace and prosperity. He commended his cabinet members for their dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that unity and focus are essential to implementing government reforms.
“The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” Tinubu added.

Looking ahead, the administration is pursuing a dual approach to strengthen the nation’s stability and growth. On one hand, it is committed to crushing terrorism and restoring security across regions affected by insurgency and extremist violence.
On the other, the government is focused on enhancing Nigeria’s global partnerships, aiming to attract foreign investment and foster sustainable economic development. By balancing security initiatives with international engagement, the Tinubu administration seeks to create an environment of peace, prosperity, and renewed confidence both at home and abroad.
Tinubu’s statements underscore a determination to reassure both domestic and international audiences that Nigeria is committed to peace, progress, and strategic engagement on the world stage.
