Trump Threat: Chief of Air Staff Orders Smarter, Harder Air Strikes to Secure Nigeria

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has directed all Air Component Commanders across operational theatres to intensify precision air operations and deliver smarter, harder, and more decisive firepower against insurgents, terrorists, and other criminal elements threatening Nigeria’s peace and stability.

The directive came shortly after United States President Donald Trump reportedly labelled Nigeria a “country of concern” following allegations of attacks and killings of Christians in parts of the country.

Air Marshal Aneke gave the order during a high-level strategic meeting with Air Component Commanders in Abuja, where he charged them to ensure that every mission reflects professionalism, purpose, and patriotism.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Chief stressed that the days ahead demand greater agility, precision, and intelligence-driven warfare. He said the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) must adapt swiftly to emerging threats and sustain offensive momentum against all destabilizing forces.

“Every mission must demonstrate our resolve, professionalism, and commitment to protecting the sovereignty and safety of Nigeria,” the statement quoted Aneke as saying.

Reassuring personnel of his commitment to their welfare, capacity development, and operational effectiveness, Air Marshal Aneke reaffirmed that the Air Force under his leadership will continue to invest in innovation, technology, and training to achieve mission success.

He noted that enhanced coordination between air and ground components remains key to achieving lasting security outcomes across the country’s troubled regions, especially in the North-East and North-West.

The CAS also reiterated that the Nigerian Air Force remains steadfast in supporting the Federal Government’s vision for peace, stability, and unity, while upholding international standards of conduct, accountability, and respect for human rights in all operations.

Air Marshal Aneke’s renewed operational directive comes amid heightened global attention on Nigeria’s security situation, following President Trump’s recent remarks, which have intensified calls for stronger action against religiously motivated violence and terrorism.
