The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the suspension of four of its national officers.
In the letter which was signed by 14 out of 18 PDP National Working Committee (NWC) members, the opposition party said the decision to suspend the officers for anti-party activities, was reached at the 608th NWC meeting.
Said the party in the letter, which received by commission on November 4, “The NWC, pursuant to the provisions of Section 57(3), 58 (1)(a)(b)(c) and
(h)and 59(1) of the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) (as
Amended in 2017) suspends the following national officers from the party…for a period of one month and referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action.”
Those suspended, the party disclosed, are Senator Samuel Anyanwu (National Secretary); Hon. Umar Bature (National Organizing Secretary); Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade (National Legal Adviser); and Barr. Okechukwu Osuoha (Deputy National Legal Adviser).
“During the period of the suspension, the affected officers cease to function in their respective capacities.
“Pursuant to Section 36(2) of the PDP Constitution, the Deputy National
Secretary, Hon. Arc. Setonji Koshoedo shall forthwith act as the National
Secretary while the National Director of Legal Services and National Director
of Organisation are hereby directed to oversees the activities of their
respective Directorate,” the party stated.
